If cost and resources were no issue, what changes would you like to make to practices in the Testing industry?

Technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace and users’ expectations are increasing - the customer requires a higher quality, faster, safer more mobile solution. Spurred by this greater demand for excellence, the Software Testing industry is growing year on year. We have to deliver but we also have to innovate, however we’re almost always limited by the budgets and resources the wider business is willing to allocate. It’s time for us as testers to break down the barriers and make our testing dreams a reality.

A dream is not much more than a fantasy if it is not supported by an ambition and a plan on how to achieve it. TestExpo™ 2015 focuses on the ambitions, plans and goals of the testing community in the UK for learning and improving testing practices.

This one-day conference will be structured around a series of themes. Keynote presentations and roundtable sessions will allow all participants to join in and discuss their own experiences, and consider how to implement their own visions and dreams for the testing industry.

Themes Include:

  • Innovation in the Testing Industry
  • Internet of Things and the Future of Testing
  • Cyber Security
  • Digital Test Strategy
  • Testing in the Cloud
  • Agile Testing
  • Automation Strategy

‘Regenerating Enthusiasm for Testing

About TestExpo

TestExpo™ was launched initially in 1996 and has since become one of the biggest and most renowned software testing events in the UK. This year TestExpo will return to London on 22 October 2015.

TestExpo is a one day conference that enables sharing of information and guidance on the hottest testing and Quality Assurance topics that impact today’s businesses. Over the years the event has grown into a highly valuable forum for debate, discussion and networking amongst a software testing and quality assurance professionals.

Historically the event has been hosted by Sogeti, but this last year Sogeti was thrilled to announce UNICOM’s involvement. UNICOM’s heritage as an event and conference organiser, and depth of specialist knowledge, through its own series of Next Generation Testing Conferences in this arena made UNICOM the ideal choice to co-host TestExpo.

TestExpo 2014 – Overview – Defining the Digital Testing Strategy

"As long as software exists, it will need to be tested" – whilst this well-known sentiment is true, technology and software are evolving rapidly with a move into a newer, increasingly digital landscape, where users are ruthless when it comes to quality, usability and performance, and companies are working harder than ever to innovate. To ensure testing continues to meet expectations it must also develop and continue to prove its value to the business.

TestExpo 2014 aims to consider the ways in which we might rethink our testing practices and incorporate new digital technologies into our testing plans to support the delivery of high quality digital applications.

This one-day conference will be structured around a series of themes, with keynote presentations and roundtable sessions where all participants can join in and discuss their own experiences, consider how the testing industry is progressing and find new ways to approach digital testing challenges.

Themes include:

  • Defining the digital testing strategy and considering which methods and tools will provide the right mechanisms for success: including Agile, Cloud, SOA, Automation and standardised processes
  • Incorporating new technologies and devices into testing plans: Feedback from social media and Big Data/analytics, and channels such as Mobile, Smart TV, and the Internet of Things
  • Budgets: How much of the testing budget should go into new channels and the need to prove the value of QA and focus on ROI
  • The Changing role of the tester: from technical testers to new skills, the role of new testers coming up into the market, and do testing certifications cater for new waves of applications and devices? Differentiating between ‘testing’ and ‘checking’ and Bug hunter vs. bug preventer

Sogeti UK and UNICOM Announce Date and Theme for TestExpo™ 2014

Published: 07/05/2014

Following the successful TestExpo™ 2013 UK conference, Sogeti UK and UNICOM reveal this year’s TestExpo event will take place in London on 21 October 2014

London, UK, 7 May 2014 - Sogeti UK, a leading provider of professional technology services specialising in software testing, and UNICOM, a global conference and training company, announce the return of the UK’s largest and most renowned software testing event on 21 October 2014, for what will be the 30th TestExpo™.
Last year’s hugely successful TestExpo conference was the first to be jointly hosted by Sogeti and UNICOM and has sparked a strong partnership between the two businesses. They will play to their strengths to produce an extremely high standard event.

Each year the TestExpo programme is updated and refreshed with exciting new themes and topics that impact today’s business. For 2014 the key theme addressed will be “Defining the Digital Testing Strategy”. This very current topic will aim to address how technology and software are moving towards an increasingly digital landscape, how this is impacting testing and what needs to change in order to keep up with the pace of innovation.

In 2013 a number of new features were introduced to the TestExpo programme, such as increased opportunities to network, share tips, and facilitated round table discussions which received excellent feedback from the audience. All are to be repeated in 2014 alongside the usual thought-provoking keynotes, case studies and presentations delivered by thought leaders and experts from leading organisations in the software testing arena.

What sets TestExpo apart its emphasis on knowledge sharing and "real life" experience, providing participants with insight into how other organisations are leading the field in testing and quality assurance. The sessions and exhibition are structured to maximise opportunities for visitors and exhibitors to network and interact and learn about new opportunities, with the option to view demos, and learn about innovative ideas and techniques.

“Working with the Sogeti team last year to organise TestExpo was a fantastic experience which culminated in an event that received great feedback from delegates, speakers and sponsors alike. The structured breakout sessions proved a big hit with everyone and will be central to this year’s programme - whilst continuing the same successful format. TestExpo again introduces new topics, ideas and speakers in order that all participants come away with the most up to date testing and QA knowledge to apply”, says Alec McCutcheon, Director of UNICOM.

Lara Irwin, UK Marketing Director at Sogeti comments: “Sogeti is delighted to be collaborating again with UNICOM to organise TestExpo 2014 and build on the fantastic response generated by last year’s event. It really is fantastic to be part of an event that continues to address cutting edge challenges in Testing, but most of all it’s great to see so many organisations benefit from sharing their wins, their ideas and their challenges in a community that is able to provide the right level of help and support.”

Super Early Bird tickets are now available for just £60+VAT at: www.testexpo.co.uk, along with more information about the event.
